We use a competency based curriculum. This means the curriculum is grounded in student choice and individualized instruction. Students progress through new skills at their own pace and are encouraged to explore topics that interest them. Additionally, we see great value in play-based learning. Therefore, students are given ample time for imaginative play and creative exploration.
Curriculum maps are a great way to see the progression of topics covered throughout the year. Not all students progress at the same pace, but they do all follow the same order. Curriculum maps refer to explicit instruction in specific subjects. As such, only preschool level has curriculum maps. The other age groups have progress or milestone monitoring.
